“Synaesthesia” is an exploration of the different ways in which the human mind and body perceive these phenomena of light and sound, and how they might synthesize into some sort of tactile and transcendent experience. The installation uses processes of repetition, pattern-making, and rhythm as modes of contemplation. Detached from a singular moment in time, light and sound coalesce within the work to present an amalgamation of non-linear thought. The two phenomena become self-referential by means of repetition, and now existing outside the bounds of their original condition, take on malleable forms. Meandering through the spaces, light and sound may intersect at points, but remain separate in others. My interest lies in creating an environment that allows the viewer to step outside of the everyday experience of these two forces and observe them as discrete phenomena to behold. The work acts as a vessel in which to experience light and sound in totality; drawing upon that which feels familiar yet fleeting, it asks the viewer to presently reflect and recollect.&#38;nbsp;

First Mourning Light. Artist Book. 202020 pages, 6.75” x 9.25”

Link to audio
“First Mourning Light” is an exploration of wakefulness, rhythm and routine, and atmosphere as they pertain to light and sound. My current studio practice investigates the ability of light and sound to function as material, isolating them as discrete phenomena to behold and bask in. “First Mourning Light” isolates the qualities we associate with morning time and presents them as physical, printed matter. The book packages a familiar atmosphere into its pages, while taking the otherwise benign and minute routine of waking and emphasizing its intimate nature. My research for this project consists of the poetic, historical, and cultural connotations of dawn via Dawn Light by Diane Ackerman, as well as the processes of biological cycles and circadian rhythms. For most people the natural sleep-wake cycle is directly affected by light, causing them to be awake during daylight hours and sleep during the night. The creation of this book involved the process of adjusting my own cycle to rise at dawn, or first morning light, for a week while observing and recording my surroundings and routine. The audio piece is an amalgamation of sounds from this observed morning routine, and confirms that the images presented in the book are at dawn as opposed to dusk. Together, the book and audio juxtapose both the stillness and the ascending energy of dawn, allowing the viewer to connect to their own rhythms.</description>

“Ode to the Blood Moon” uses audio, video, and performance to synthesize elements of light and sound, building visual markers, potential physicality, and various patterns. The work functions as a map of movement, constructing the trajectory of an immaterial material that cannot be held, easily repeated, or recreated.

Growing Pains. Cyanotype on cotton. 2019.

“Growing Pains” explores concepts of oblivion, obsession, and aging through the process of creating cyanotype prints on sheets of cotton over and over again. These sheets of cotton were then stitched together into bedding and displayed in a small and intimate installtion room. The installation mimics a resting place, but conveys a a lingering sense of restlessness in an attempt to find a concrete answer to the illusive question “Am I missing something?”

	“Hymns of Meditation” is a concept album that explores cycles of wakefulness and states of consciousness. The three standard states of consciousness or experience according to Hindu philosophy are the waking state, the dream state and the state of deep sleep. The album descends in a chronological fashion according to these cycles, searching for the link between our individual subconscious and the greater universe.You can find the full album here&#38;nbsp;
